A trailer in the form of a music battle to announce TFT’s final showdown

Context

Teamfight Tactics is a strategy game featuring iconic champions from League of Legends. Quick and competitive, TFT challenges you to build the ultimate team, improvise, and adapt your strategy in a round-based battle of attrition.

Following its trailers for Sets 08 and 09, Riot Games has once more entrusted Nōbl with the unveiling of its final showdown, Set 10. This time it’s the “Remix Rumble”, a music festival where the 32 best performers from around the world battle it out to the rhythm of beats and booms, creating a unique show that’s all about the music. Turn up the rumble!

Solution

Nōbl created a mixed-media trailer centred on live performance. Through an original composition, the film celebrates music in the broadest possible sense: rock, pop, disco and EDM are blended together in a potent mashup that reveals the personalities of each of the players. Like the members of Daft Punk, they are hidden behind the masks of their characters, ensuring that an air of secrecy is maintained while reinforcing the film’s identity.

Embroiled in a music battle, the players take on the role of performers, appearing on stage where they use instruments, genres and soundwaves as unique means of attack and defence.

To accompany the trailer, a “motion toolkit” comprising a set of additional animated features was put together and made available to the team at Riot Games. This toolkit facilitates rollout across all platforms, thereby ensuring a strong, consistent identity for this first-class event.
